Non-toxic tips 28 March 2024 Clean inked plates with any vegetable oil. Remove grounds with citrasolve, available at health food stores and some hardware/paint stores. Ferric Chloride instead of nitric acid. It's better for you AND the environment. Recycle your newspapers as a great way to clean your plates. Recycle your telephone books by cutting them into fourths for a final wipe when inking up plates. Cut your brushes to fit in cans and jars (such as the ones you use for oil or citrasolve or stop out) and leave them there so they don't have to be cleaned thoroughly after each use.
