WELCOME TO THE FUNCTIONAL FOLK ART GALLERY OF
LESLIE SUYDAM

Leslie A. Suydam is a life long resident of New Britain,Connecticut. She began painting seriously five years ago, at the age of 40,while pregnant with her daughter, the most serene, peaceful time of her life. A self taught painter, Leslie works in Acrylic on many carriers, especially found objects. (Functional Folk Art) Her belief is that Art is not just something you hang on a wall. Art is a God given gift and must be shared to be appreciated.

"A life without Art is like a ship without oars" -- Anon.

A little bit more about my work
With each piece I paint, I strive for new heights.
I learn atleast one lesson each time I pick up a brush. I am greatful to THE WOMENS ART CIRCLE, linked at the bottom of the page, for encouraging me to call my self an artist, always inspiring me to try new things.
Painting on found objects give me a fresh canvas in so many shapes and sizes, and allows me to reshape it into my vision. They say "One man's trash is another's treasure". It is my hope that I can create many treasure to be shared.
